In a project to support disadvantaged children by providing for school needs, C-CARE, yesterday 26/09/2024, visited 3 schools and paid, in full, for the education of 3 beneficiaries (2 boys and 1 girl) for the academic year 2024/25. The educational needs covered included their school fees, books, school bags, examination registration fees (for 2 of them who will be writing the Common Entrance and First School Leaving Certificates) and some technical tools for the technical school. the schools chosen by the children included: Reference Complex, Hope Nursery & Primary School and New academy Technical and Commercial College
Parents/guardians of the children were facing difficulties in paying for the children’s education due to a fall in income level caused by poor soil fertility resulting from the impacts of climate change. The project aimed to support persons affected by the impacts of climate change in Mbatu and Nsongwa which are communities around Bamenda. Agriculture is the main livelihood of these families.
Also, the founders/administration of the schools thanked C-CARE for the project idea and promised to deliver well on the education of these children. They also were glad that the parents/guardians selected their schools for the education of these children.
Results achievedÂ
C-CARE followed up on the performance of the beneficiaries by attending the graduation ceremonies and all 3 succeeded in their end-of-year exams to move the the next classes
Perspectives
Following the success of this project C-CARE is now working on a second phase in order to scale up the impact. This second phase will support 15 beneficiaries at various level of their education.
